MIS Early Years Programme

Instilling values such as intrinsic motivation, self-discipline and curiosity.

A child’s first impression of the school is vital in shaping their feelings about learning. Our dedicated teachers and co-teachers go the extra mile to ensure our children feel happy and secure in school.

We encourage learning through various creative play, gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, yoga, music, dance, movement, and outdoor activities. Foundations of numeracy and literacy skills are also introduced while the children learn the social arts of sharing, assertiveness and diplomacy within safe boundaries. Our students meet regularly to share their learning and perform in front of their peers to build confidence. MIS encourages all of our programmes to be student-led. Student-led makes learning fun by giving MIS students creative freedom and empowering them to have control over their learning.

TODDLERS AND PLAYGROUP

(2 – 4 Year Olds)

At MIS, our Toddlers and Playgroup classes introduce students to learning through play. In our classes, students take the lead in the learning process, driven by their natural curiosity and desire to explore. This approach fosters a personalised understanding of learning, empowering each child to construct their own knowledge.

Our Toddlers and Playgroup classes establish a strong foundation for learning, preparing students for a seamless transition to our Junior foundation class.

FOUNDATION

(4 – 6 YEARS OLD)

In our Junior Foundation program, MIS students explore themes integrated across the strands of Independence and Interdependence, Inquiry, Healthy Living and Physical Well-being, and Communication.

Healthy Living and Physical Well-being involve learning to care for themselves and others, emphasising physical development. Independence and Interdependence focus on children’s personal, social, and emotional development goals, as well as their relationships with peers. Inquiry aims to enhance students’ inquiry skills and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world. Communication emphasises the development of communication skills, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, early numeracy, and expressive arts.

Our children engage in enjoyable, hands-on learning experiences, which help them establish solid personal and educational foundations.
