MIS Secondary Programme

The Cambridge Secondary program at MIS prepares students for every stage of the Cambridge learning pathway, from Lower Secondary to Upper Secondary and on to Cambridge Advanced. Our curriculum is designed to develop students’ knowledge, understanding, and skills across various subjects, with instruction delivered by subject specialists and supported by MIS’s comprehensive Learning Information Management Systems. This program provides a seamless transition from our primary program and a clear progression pathway into our Upper Secondary courses and Advanced programs, including Cambridge IGCSEs and A-levels.

At MIS, we highly value a balanced and stimulating curriculum that fosters an academic culture of independence and critical thinking. We aim to cultivate character in our learners by fully engaging them in both curricular and extracurricular activities, encouraging them to read widely, challenge ideas, and ask questions. Our goal is to ensure that learners are confident in developing and applying a range of skills, enabling them to expand their knowledge and enthusiasm across academic, artistic, cultural, and sporting disciplines.

Age 11 – 13

GRADE 6 – 8

Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum

Subjects include: English, Maths, Science (including Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Global Perspectives, Digital Citizenship, Geography, Business Studies, Physical Education, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Art and Design, Music and Bahasa Indonesia, Civics and Religion.

GRADE 9 – 10

Cambridge Upper Secondary IGCSE program

In partnership with our alliance school Sekolah Nusa Alam (located 1 hour away in Mataram), the Lombok Intercultural Secondary Alliance (LISA) program was set up in 2023 to enable MIS students living in Kuta the opportunity to study and attain internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE qualifications.

The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad and balanced education that helps develop essential skills and knowledge for future success. It emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and independent learning.

LISA students study at the Sekolah Nusa Alam (SNA) Campus 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). On Mondays and Fridays they study at our MIS campus. Currently, LISA Students can study a total of 5 IGCSEs at SNA with the opportunity to study an additional IGCSE at MIS in their native language (e.g. Indonesian, Spanish, French, German etc.).

Subjects currently available (may change according to interest and teacher availability): IGCSE English 1st Language / English 2nd Language, IGCSE Mathematics, IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences (includes Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), IGCSE Business Studies, IGCSE Bahasa Indonesia (or other native language), Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Career Guidance and Support.

Age 16+

GRADE 11 – 12

Cambridge Advanced A-Level program

In partnership with our alliance school Sekolah Nusa Alam (located 1 hour away in Mataram), the Lombok Intercultural Secondary Alliance (LISA) program was set up in 2023 to give MIS students living in Kuta the opportunity to study and attain internationally recognised Cambridge A-Level qualifications.

Building on the foundations of Cambridge Upper Secondary, this Advanced A-Level program allows students to develop a deep understanding of subjects and independent thinking skills and prepares them for university and higher education.

Subjects currently available (may change according to interest and teacher availability): A-Level English Language, A-Level Pure Maths & Mechanics, A-Level Biology, A-Level Marine Biology, A-Level Global Perspectives, A-Level Business, Physical Education, Art and Design, Music, Bahasa Indonesia, Civics and Religion.
